Wat Gedachten over het "Personeelstekort"/Some thoughts about "staff shortage" NL/ENG

Image

Autism is incompatible with Capitalism, or how I learned to stop blaming myself and became a leftist.

Throughout most of my life I have never been a very politically informed person. I have always striven to live my life in a way that I thought was suitable for me. In this manner I tried to be as helpful as possible and to always do my best. People always told me that if I did that then that everything would be fine.. They were wrong. When I was 18 years old I was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder(or Asperger's Syndrome at the time due to the DSM(1) still being in it's Fourth edition). This diagnosis came after a rough divorce of my parents. This in combination with the financial trouble that followed caused me to suffer from some major mental health problems. This diagnosis did not a whole lot for me emotionally speaking but it did allow me to finally make sense of the issues I had ran into in my life at that point. It felt like everything finally made sense. I did not make mistakes and failed everything I tried because I was dumb, I was just Autistic! I was just not mad...

How to make Public transport attractive to people, or in other words: How to get people to use the car less

Note: This article is gonna focus mostly on Dutch public transport since that is what I am mostly familiar with. The things that I am about to mention in this article may not work or apply in every situation. Readers discretion is advised. Not too long ago I was distraught by the news that Arriva was apparently gonna scrap some bus lines in the city where I live after 21:00(1). I was distraught by this news since these were cuts in not only city bus lines but also regional lines to more provincial towns and villages. I have been(at the time of writing) looking for a different home for some time now and due to my lack of a car or a driver's license I would be dependent on a bus line to get anywhere, should I find a home in one of these places. This feeling of distraught only intensified when I discussed this with some friends of mine and they informed me that even more bus lines were probably gonna be scrapped in the Breda region(another region I am looking at for a new home)(2).  N...

"Zwarte Piet" is Racism, deal with it (ENG/NL)

Image
Nederlandstalige versie kunt u vinden halverwege! Content warning: Discussions of racism, racist depictions, Dutch people being stubborn and extremely defensive about said racism. Inhoudswaarschuwing: Discussie van racisme, racistische afbeeldingen, Mensen die ongelooflijk koppig zijn over dit racisme. People protesting "Zwarte Piet"/Mensen die Protesteren tegen Zwarte Piet (English) It is almost December which means that the season of celebration and winter festivities are almost upon us. If you live in the Netherlands this also means that you will probably hear the discourse again about the tradition of "Zwarte Piet" and the racism it entails. About a year ago I wrote a script for a video about this subject, however I never made a video about it because I was afraid of the backlash I would get and because I feared that YouTube would delete the video and give me a community strike. In hindsight I am kind of glad that I never made the video because looking back at t...

American Liberals and Dutch "Progressivism"

Note: While I am going to be talking mostly about the Netherlands since that is my main point of reference I think that a lot of what I am going to say would also apply to how a lot of American Liberals talk about the Scandinavian countries like Sweden and Norway or even other European countries like Germany. Cw: None really but Pim is complaining about Liberals again I watch quite a lot of YouTube videos. This is not necessarily a good thing since YouTube has a lot of issues as a platform and there is quite honestly a lot of misinformation and misdirection on that site. However it also offers me a lot of content that is way more varied and interesting then anything I could ever dream off back when I still watched television. The internet has become a ripe source of information for me about almost every subject and YouTube is no exception to this. One subsect of YouTube is the educational video. These are videos often made with flashy animations that often explain a subject in clear te...

All cops are bastards, but so are the people who defend their actions

Content Warning: Discussion of police violence  It is a well known phrase among the left. "All cops are Bastards" or ACAB for short. It stands for justice and to make clear to the world why the institute of the police should not exist. You have all probably heard the theory and reasoning behind this phrase already. "All cops are bastards because they exist to protect the wealthy elite, they are bastards because they oppress the lower classes and marginalized groups with extreme prejudice, they are bastards because they protect Fascists and other far right agitators". This is all fine and dandy but I am not here to give a theory lecture. If you want to read about theory then go find some video essay on YouTube or read some literature. No instead I am here to talk about the powers that are behind those cops, how even so called "moderate" politicians and people are more then willing to defend the brutality of the thugs in blue.  Police brutality nowadays is m...
