Autism is incompatible with Capitalism, or how I learned to stop blaming myself and became a leftist.

Throughout most of my life I have never been a very politically informed person. I have always striven to live my life in a way that I thought was suitable for me. In this manner I tried to be as helpful as possible and to always do my best. People always told me that if I did that then that everything would be fine.. They were wrong. When I was 18 years old I was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder(or Asperger's Syndrome at the time due to the DSM(1) still being in it's Fourth edition). This diagnosis came after a rough divorce of my parents. This in combination with the financial trouble that followed caused me to suffer from some major mental health problems. This diagnosis did not a whole lot for me emotionally speaking but it did allow me to finally make sense of the issues I had ran into in my life at that point. It felt like everything finally made sense. I did not make mistakes and failed everything I tried because I was dumb, I was just Autistic! I was just not mad...

The Left, Ableism and a conversation we need to have

Content Warning: Discussions of Ableism, some criticism of left wing groups Intersectionality is the theory and framework by which we explain how a person's social and political identities combine, to measure the different modes of discrimination and privilege. This means that many forms of discrimination(and privilege) will often cross each other on an axis. We can use this analytical framework to measure the ways in which many people are disenfranchised and it has spread from it's origin in academia, to left wing praxis on the streets. Without intersectionality, civil rights issues and labor issues would still be separated from each other. Without intersectionality, queer rights would at best still be limited to decriminalization of homosexuality. Without intersectionality left wing groups in the US would have never grown after the 2016 elections and would have been completely crushed under the boot of Fascism, Capitalism and the American State.  Intersectionality is one of...

The participation society and the attack on disabled and neurodivergent people

CW: Ableism, Bureaucratic fuckery  A little while ago while browsing the news I stumbled upon a strange occurrence. I found a news article which told the story of a woman living in the Dutch municipality of Wijdemeren and how she was apparently eligible for a fine of about 7000 euros(now reduced to 2835 euros after a political uproar) because she was given groceries on a regular basis by her mother while also receiving social assistance and welfare benefits(1).  This is an outrageous story about how a woman got punished by the Dutch state and social services for receiving help from her well meaning mother and although she deserves justice, her story is not exactly new to me. I myself have also been punished by Dutch social services for receiving help or due to circumstances beyond my control on numerous occasions. This is not exactly new but I am using this story as an example because it shows very well the results of the participation society and how neoliberal policies punis...

Autism and Alienation

CW: Ableism, Genocide mention, Talk about social alienation. Disclaimer: This is only a short piece of work that shows the issues of our society in regards to Neurodivergent people. It is in no way meant to be a complete or comprehensive work. I am no stranger to social alienation. As an Autistic person I have felt alienated from many groups and most of society for basically all of my life. My social history can best be summarized as me stumbling from one social group into another. That is not to say that I cannot form lasting friendships with other people but rather that it is extremely difficult for me to "fit in" many social groups. Ranging from small friends groups to activism groups, from societal institutions to hobby groups. Alienation and the loneliness that it entails are second nature to me at this point. It should come as no surprise to anyone that I am not very happy with this. Despite my difficulties with bonding with people and forming meaningful relationships w...

An Introduction

It is high time for me to make a post explaining what I am doing here and what my aim is with this blog. This should hopefully give some introspection in who I am, what I am doing here and where I want to go with the work that I do. First of all I am Pim. I am an Autistic twat with a lot of opinions on a lot of subjects. I am a filthy "left wing rat" so don't expect any love for Conservatives or Liberals here. This blog will mostly be my outings on subjects regarding politics, especially politics that involve Autistic people.  In a way this blog also serves as an extension of my youtube channel, here I will post about subjects that I think are either too small for their own video or subjects that I cannot adequately explain in video format. This does mean that my blog will go into the territory of theory and frustrations I run into in life so be prepared for that. I have found it extremely difficult to really produce anything of substance regarding theory or finding a cr...
