Pim's Photos: Dutch Railway Museum 2022

In 2022 I went to the Railway Museum in Utrecht and made a lot of photos. I never quite managed to upload these properly so here they are.

The new Sprinter we used to get there

NS 1300 locomotive. For a while the most powerful Dutch electric locomotive!

Long Mat'64 Snake

SGM, the original Sprinter! When this picture was taken where they taken out of service only a year earlier!

NS 1700. A few of these are still in service pulling the Intercity to berlin

The head of the Mat'64 Snake

Control cab for the former Benelux train from Amsterdam to Brussel

I think these are Plan E coaches?

Mat'54, the well known "Hondenkop"(Dog's head)

I admit that my knowledge regarding Dutch steam is somewhat limited

Former motorized inspection vehicle

A cautionary tale in preservation. This vehicle is presumably the only thing that remains of the former North Brabantian and German Railway Company

Hand powered inspection vehicle

Leave it to us to turn a bike into a rail inspection vehicle

This locomotive is elevated on a platform. The ticket office is below it.

The locomotive is a NS 1600 steam locomotive, a late 19th century locomotive that pre-dates nationalization.

This was a nice model that showed how a steam locomotive works.

What follows next is a series of lovely posters.

The true train of the future.

What if the Netherlands was a Cyberpunk novel?

"I showed you my coupler pls respond".

Sideview of the Plan X DMU

The best Dutch-American project in history, the NS 1200.

Advertisement for Diesel electric trains.

This is the "Kameel"(Camel). A one of a kind vehicle the brass of the Dutch Railways used to show guests around.

Interior of a DD-AR coach. I actually used to use these on a regular basis.

DD-AR my beloved... How I miss you so..

NS 1500, electric locomotive of British origin.

ZHESM vehicle. The oldest electric train in the Netherlands

More Steam

A postal coach. Remember when mail was shipped via train?

Bring back the PTT!

Sideview of the front of a Motorpost, specialized Postal train equipment.

Another postal coach

...And another one.

I am glad they managed to save one of the analog station signs. They are all digital now.

Railroad crane.

Former Signal.

Water tower for steam locomotives.

NS 600 in the front with a NS 200/300 in the back. Shunting diesels.

Old fashioned lamp and telegraph pole.

Semaphores, ye olde signals.

More motorpost!

This area got converted into a cafetaria but there are still electrical switchboards in the back that still work.

Mat'46.

Front of a DD-AR.

NS 100 shunter. The original Sik.

NS 1000 locomotive. The only surviving example.

NS 1100. I prefer them with the later nose.

NS 1300 steam locomotive. I liked the riveting.

NS 2100. Allegedly were these so noisy that the crew gave them the nickname "Blikken tinus"(tin Tinus).

More SGM, kind of wish they were not taken out of service yet.

Mat'24 in the background.

Close-up

More NS 100.

Another NS 500/600.

Plan U, Think Mat'64 but Diesel.

And that sums it up! Hope you all enjoy this little photo dump and let me know if you want to see more!
