Disclaimer: The main bulk of this blog was written originally as a script for an unfinished video I planned to make about a year ago. The main reason this video was unfinished was because during recording and editing I noticed that the subject was a bit boring. Now that I have a blog I realize that the script is much better suited for this format. Small changes have been made to accommodate the medium Oh hey I get to talk about a hobby of mine for a change! You know, I get so stuck into politics-mind sometimes that I often forget that there is more to life then crippling depression and our selfmade impending doom. A very old hobby of mine that I recently managed to breathe some new life in is trains and railroads. As a kid I was always fascinated by trains, especially steam locomotives. English Below Nederlands Een vrij lange tijd ben ik qua stemgedrag een aanhanger geweest van de SP. In die tijd heb ik meerdere malen op zowel lokaal als landelijk niveau op de SP gestemd. Dit heb ik gedaan in het verleden omdat de SP destijds de partij was wiens agenda en standpunten het meest bij mij paste. Echter naarmate ik mijzelf meer in politieke zaken ging inlezen(voornamelijk uit noodzaak vanwege mijn situatie als een persoon met een "beperking") is het mij echter meer en meer duidelijk geworden dat de SP met hun huidige partijbestuur geen interesse heeft om linkse politiek te voeren. De redenen hiervoor zijn mij niet helemaal duidelijk en zijn iets waar ik alleen maar over kan speculeren maar het is wel duidelijk geworden dat de SP partijbestuur in het afgelopen jaar een aantal beslissingen heeft genomen die mij heel duidelijk maken dat de SP niet mijn vriend is en ik zeker niet op hun voor ondersteuning kan rekenen.  Ik denk dat in dit geval dat het belangrijkste e

CW: Ableism, Bureaucratic fuckery  A little while ago while browsing the news I stumbled upon a strange occurrence. I found a news article which told the story of a woman living in the Dutch municipality of Wijdemeren and how she was apparently eligible for a fine of about 7000 euros(now reduced to 2835 euros after a political uproar) because she was given groceries on a regular basis by her mother while also receiving social assistance and welfare benefits(1).  This is an outrageous story about how a woman got punished by the Dutch state and social services for receiving help from her well meaning mother and although she deserves justice, her story is not exactly new to me. I myself have also been punished by Dutch social services for receiving help or due to circumstances beyond my control on numerous occasions.
